NORTH TO SALANG
This started out as a trip to the district of SALANG and ended up as alist of photos with me in it.
Steve Murphy has been working with me for almost three months now and we get along great.
Its not everyday that you get to take guns into the bank but then again we are the good guys. Randy Cramer was the lead of the Dyna Corp guys working with us. He left at the end of June but was a pretty easy going guy.
This was an interesting pic, the Terp and Tom are helping me get phone numbers from a "bust" phone and the phone kept ringing.
The seat cover was a joke, when ever we go out on convoy with othere people they give call signs as razor, punisher, mad dog etc. well I had enough so one time when all the cool guys had given their call signs they asked me what mine was and I told them fluffy bunny, there were some looks but we forged ahead and things went great. The guys on my team got the joke the rest were just stupified. So when we were walking thru a market we saw this seat cover and had to buy it.
Im getting ready to go to Salang standing on the top of the vehicle making sure that we had everything.
When we got to SALANG the police had seized a soviet BMP (an armor troop carrier) I had to get a picture of me inside. We opened the back to see what was inside and found that it had unexploded ordance from a SPiG-9 its like our recoiless rifle, so we closed up the back and just played on the top.
Murph and I enjoy the view from the turret. the gun was still in working order with all the electronics and sight still mounted, no rounds though.
The Ghurkas were having a hayday saying dont shoot me dont shoot me, so we took their picture anyway.
While we were there we looked at the guns that they had seized, the first one is a RPG launcher, the next is a PRK machine gun, then a RPDbelt fed machinge gun, the small one with the drum is a PPSHa from WWII where as we all know the US did help out but in just a administrative role according to everyone else on the planet. there were some mausher nagants and the best was a ground mount 23mm cannon, it was in peices so they could get it in the arms storage area. All of these are going to be destroyed by the UN team in country so they dont get filtered out to somewhere else.

hey,dann, what do you know you are still good looking. it is good to see pictures of you and of what you are doing. how many days do you have left? mark and family are coming over to cook hot dogs whaa hoo its the 4th. stay safe and remember we love you mom
It's good to see a smile on your face in a few of those pictures. I like seeing and reading all that you put on your blog but I do enjoy the pictures that have you in them the most! Happy 4th. Love ya Terry
