Pickels

This is the TaGab valley. not much to look at but it does hold lots of bad guys and opium poppy fields so there is money to be had.

THis was my sector of fire, its only 530am and its rather light. Groups of men had come into the village and would surge around the corner in the background by the red connex container, looking to see what was going on. Then back off around the corner to talk and wait.
On my right was a guy in the street; an ANA soldier who was to keep the people at bay, seemed like the thing to do at the time.

Further around the circle was the Police District Headquarters, a tall mud walled structure. Behind it was a lush valley filled with people coming up to the District HQ to fight us.

Further around the circle were more buildings and our folks. The bad guys had closed off the road south of town stopping the local traffic closing down the school south of town sending kids home before the school day began. They tried to do it North of the town too but...

This was my emidiate left. When we left the town we made the police provide an escort, they didnt want todo it but were made to. they turned on their sirens and blew out of dodge like shot from a gun. We had a hard time keeping up with them, good thing too. We ran thru the ambush on the north side of town so fast they couldnt get a bead to shoot at us. About 4 miles out of town we got word that the District HQ was under attack, we turned around to go back and were told to stand down by a desk riding COL. So we turned around again and went back to the base we started from. It gave me a good look at the folks I was working with, some I was supprise at and others acted like I thought that they would. Bottom line we lost alot of face by not going back and fighting. It will be harder to go back in and have the people accept us.

Hm. I've heard that's the hardest thing about being in the Military...when you, as the front-line response, know a certain course of action is best, and some superior, governed by motives of his own or one of his superiors, gives nonsensical orders that damge your position. We can't wait to get you back here...things are getting too quiet.
